John G. Erickson, Jr. June 19, 1951-May 8, 2014 Mr. John G. Erickson, Jr., 62, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday May 8, 2014 at his home. He was born June 19, 1951 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of John G Erickson, Sr. and Joan R. (McCormick) Erickson. John worked as a truck loader for Lewis Bakery. He was a member of American Legion Post #83, Eagles Nest #2439, Moose Lodge #492, PRCU, and Falcons. John was an avid bowler, he had bowled on many leagues. He liked to work with wood and was learning to become a locksmith. John loved to cook and watch the Food Channel, and enjoyed gardening. He had owned his own Root Beer Stand in the state of Michigan. He was very sociable and would help anyone in need. He loved everyone and became friends. John loved his children and grandchildren.. On November 26, 1973, in LaPorte, Indiana , he married Rose Marie (Tarnow) Erickson who preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, John (Becky) Erickson III of La Porte, IN; three daughters, Kandi (Scott) Bradley of Rolling Prairie, IN, Randi (Bill) Keck of La Porte, IN, Dandi (Chris) Seibert of La Porte, IN; fourteen grandchildren, Emily and Ian Bradley, Bill IV, Kaden and Analyn Keck, Hailee, John IV and Alexis Erickson, Brooke and Taylor Kegebein, Kristen, Brandon, Aaron and Justin Seibert; two brothers, Robert Erickson of La Porte, IN, Danny Erickson of La Porte, IN; five sisters, Shirley (John) Million of La Porte, IN, Diana (Ron) Naccrato of Dunedin, FL, Susan (James) Hewitt of La Porte, IN, Patricia (Mark) Harper of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Sharon (Douglas) Winn of Lehigh Acres, FL, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Larry A. Erickson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday May 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Marron officiating. Cremation will take place.
