John Cuson

John E. Cuson, age 66, of Mill Creek, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at his home. He was born August 21, 1951 in South Bend to John Cuson, Jr., and the late Mary (Kessler) Cuson. John is survived by his father, John, Jr., brothers, Joseph T. (Joan) Cuson of Rolling Prairie, Jerry R. (Lori) Cuson of Mill Creek and James O. (Sandra) Cuson of Mill Creek, along with many nieces and nephews. After graduation from Indiana University in 1978, he began working for the State of Indiana in their IT department. He worked there for a number of years before returning to the family farm to care for his parents. John loved his family, but he had a particular fondness for his nieces and nephews. They remember the traditions they held with him, such as seeing a movie together every Christmas. They held a special place in his heart. As he started becoming a great uncle, his heart grew bigger to accommodate all the new additions. He enjoyed making them laugh and watching them grow. We will always remember the times we spent with him and the memories we made. John was also an animal lover. Any creature was adored and appreciated. He was especially close to his dog, Dell. There was never one without the other and Dell will very much miss their weekly trips to the dog bath and the numerous treats that she was given. The family takes comfort in the fact that Dell was beside John during his final moments and he was able to pass with his best friend by his side. Finally, John was a fan of many things: sci-fi, reading and music, but none of these things compared to his love of IU Basketball and the Chicago Cubs. If you had the time, he would talk to you for hours, running through stats and predictions. He lived for the start of the season so he could see how his teams were looking that year. The day that the Cubs won the World Series was one of the greatest days of his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8, beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremations Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte. A life celebration service will follow on Thursday at 10:00 am (CST) at the funeral home with Rev. Howard Simmons officiating. Cremation will follow.
