Joann Travis

Mrs. JoAnn Travis, age 76, of La Porte, Ind., died Thursday, November 16, 2006, at her residence in La Porte, Ind. She was born Sept. 30, 1930 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late Howard Burns and the late Willo Reed Burns. She has lived in the LaPorte area all of her life. Mrs. Travis was Homemaker and was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a member of Christian Women's Fellowship, Kitchen Kin Home Economics Club, Indiana Winnebago Club, and she loved cooking, sewing, and her family. On November 5, 1949 in LaPorte, Indiana she married Robert Powell Travis who preceded in death June 12, 2004. She is also survived by her Four Daughters, Mrs. Doreen Craig Trusty of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Diana Johnson of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Denice Tobolski of Ashland, Ohio, Mrs. Darla Jeff Swanson of La Porte, Ind.; Eleven grandchildren, Christopher Pieschala of Illinois, Heidi Chalik of LaPorte, IN., Andrea Grendahl of Germany, Laura Elmo of Ohio, Sarah Williams of Ohio, Amanda Matzke of LaPorte, Ind., Tara Foster of LaPorte, Ind., Colleen Trusty of LaPorte, Ind., Danita Bernard of LaPorte, Ind., Danielle Nix of LaPorte, Ind., Dennis Bubba Nix of LaPorte, Ind.; Six great-grandchildren, Nickoles and Kylee Matzke of LaPorte, Ind., Aylyssa Foster of LaPorte, Ind., Amira Bernard of LaPorte, Ind., Travis Chalik of LaPorte, Ind. and Parker Grendahl of Germany. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2006 and from 9:00 AM Monday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Monday, November 20, 2006, Rev. Rick Abbott officiating. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind.
