Joan Seiber

Mrs. Joan Seiber, 67, of La Porte, IN, died on Sunday July 24, 2011 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born April 14, 1944 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Leo Metts and Avis (Fulford) Metts. Joan had worked for Modine Mfg, retiring in 1994. Joan enjoyed doing ceramics, fishing, gardening, flowers, and bird watching. She especially enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. On May 27, 1967, in LaPorte, Indiana, she married Johnny Seiber who survives. She is also survived by her son - Jeffery Seiber of La Porte, IN; three daughters - Joanna (Omar) Garcia of La Porte, IN, Jennifer (Wuilebaldo) Martinez of La Porte, IN, Emerald Seiber-Measles of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren - Silvano, Selena, Sebastian, Santiago, Cruz, Caylyn, Corrin; three sisters - Alice (Edsel) Horn of Pines, IN, Jane (Edward) Gunther of AR, Beverly (John) Parrett of Michigan City, IN; niece - Lisa (Eric) Parrett-Hock of La Porte, IN; three great nieces and nephews - Alyssia, Nicholas and Zoey; and many more nieces and nephews; special friend, Tammy Measles, and her children, Brittany, Dallas, Tequila and special friend - Diana Cox. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Roberta Fowler, two brothers, Sylvester Metts, and Andrew Metts. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, July 29, 2011 from 1:00 pm, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday July 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Samuel Geckler officiating. Cremation will take place.
