Joan Helterbrand Blevins Calahan March 15, 1941-January 24, 2015 Joan Helterbrand Blevins Calahan, 73, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday January 24, 2015 at her daughter's home. She was born March 15, 1941 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Raymond Helterbrand, Sr. and Nellie (Stone) Helterbrand. Joan had worked 10 years as a cashier for Kroger's Co., retiring in 2003. She was a member of First Church of God of LaPorte. Joan was a biblical scholar and loved gospel music She enjoyed crocheting, connecting with old friends with Facebook. Joan loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Hasko of La Porte, IN; Jennifer (Michael) Quimby of Rochester, IN.; son, Andrew (Dawn) Blevins of Granger, IN; five grandchildren, Daniel Blevins, Dustin Hasko, Sr., David James Hasko, Christopher Quimby, Samantha Quimby; three great grandchildren; aunt, Evelyn Meadors, and many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and a grandson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 29, 2015, 2:00 pm, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday January 29, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 2020 E.
