Jimmy C. Thomas November 15, 1947-August 19, 2018 Jimmy C. Thomas, 70, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He was born November 15, 1947 in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the son of James C. Thomas and Vera (McClain) Thomas. Jimmy retired as a truck driver. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam war. He was a member of the NRA. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, and playing softball in his younger years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On September 2, 2006, in South Bend, Indiana, he married Cheryl (Rice) Thomas who survives in South Bend, Indiana. He is also survived by his five sons, Cary Thomas of Michigan City, IN, Dion Thomas of Magnolia, TX, Michael (Cerrie) Burns of Orlando, FL, Austin Thomas of South Bend, IN, Steven Hook of South Bend, IN; three daughters, Tara (Chris) Bodin of Magnolia, TX, Robin (Pat) Phillips of South Bend, IN, Candice Thomas of South Bend, IN; three sisters, Caroline Howard of La Porte, IN, Patricia (Tim) Kappers of San Antonio, TX, Deborah Roose of New Carlisle, IN; granddaughter, Natalie Thomas of South Bend, IN and many other grandchildren. Jimmy was preceded in death by both his parents and son, Eric Thomas. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Indiana. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 933 Nursery Rd., La Porte, Indiana 46350. A life celebration will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Heavner officiating.
