Jesus Ruiz Sr.

Mr. Jesus O. Ruiz Sr., 90, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday December 11, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. He was born October 15, 1920 in Santa Rosa, Texas, the son of Romulo Ruiz and Dolores Obregon Ruiz. Jesus grew up and went to school in Santa Rosa, TX and moved to the La Porte area over 65 years ago. He is retired from American Home Foods. He was a member of The River Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the rest of his extended family. On February 21, 1944, in Raymondville, TX, he married Celia Alvarado Ruiz who preceded in death June 4, 1997. He is survived by his 4 sons - Ricardo Elvira Ruiz, Reynaldo Tina Ruiz, Leonel Karen Ruiz, Jesus Adela Ruiz Jr. all of La Porte, IN; 3 daughters - Odelia Edward Chestnut of Brownsville, TX, Nora Ardy Creed of La Porte, IN, Maria Michael Bradley of Dallas, TX; 24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 Brothers; 3 sisters; and his extended family Rudy Lopez and sisters. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 grandchild, 1 sister, and 2 brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, December 17, 2010 from 9:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday December 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Harry Funk officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.
