Jean Wilhelm

Mrs. Jean A. Wilhelm, 81, of La Porte, Indiana, died Monday August 3, 2009 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born August 13, 1927 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Thorwald Olsen and Mabel Johnson Olsen. Jean worked in office personnel for eighteen years at Allis-Chalmers, retiring in 1983. Jean also worked at Indiana Moulding & Frame, American Rubber and GTE. She was a member of Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church and was on the board of Lambs Chapel Cemetery and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary #9423 in Rolling Prairie, where she was treasurer for sixteen plus years. Jean was an avid bingo player and loved dancing. On June 15, 1946, in Demotte, IN, she married Robert L. Wilhelm who preceded her in death April 16, 1998. She is survived by her two sisters, Carol Wilhelm of LaPorte, IN, Nancy Roger Stanage of Naples, FL; nieces and nephews, Scott Delores Wilhelm of Michigan City, Carla Eric Linhoff of Niles, MI, Alan Wilhelm of LaPorte, IN, Janet Claude Rose of Edwardsburg, MI, Sally Mutter of Walkerton, IN, Russell Wilhelm of LaPorte, IN, Craig Patty Stanage of Edwardsburg, MI; and several great nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband; mother-in-law, Florence Wilhelm; father-in-law, Ralph Wilhelm and one brother-in-law, William Wilhelm and one niece Kim Wilhelm. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm CST, on Friday, August 7, 2009. Services will be held at 10:00 am CST on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Haverstock Funeral Home. A private committal service will be held at the Lambs Chapel Cemetery.
