JEAN EVELYN COLLINGS December 18, 1928 - August 9, 2015 Jean Evelyn Collings, age 86, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at I.U. Health La Porte Hospital. Jean was born on December 18, 1928 to the late Floyd and Pansy (Short) Noakes in La Porte, Indiana. She married Harold Collings on April 19, 1947 who preceded her in death in July, 2013. One sister, Lucille Rambo (Harold) and one daughter, Janet Lynn Drayton (V. Michael) also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Ray (Ruth) Collings, Lawrenceville, GA, and Richard Collings, Carmel, IN; 8 grandchildren, Sara Stephenson (Ben) of Georgia; Hannah Collings, Georgia; Timothy Collings, South Carolina; Laura Collings, Julie Collings and Brian Collings, all Carmel, Indiana and Christopher Drayton, London, England; and Dr. Phillip Drayton, Boston, MA, and 2 great granddaughters, Laney Elise and Emmaline Rose Stephenson of Georgia. Living in Washington Township all her life, Jean graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1946 and worked in the office of Kingsley Furniture Co. in La Porte until her marriage to Harold Collings in the First Baptist Church of Kingsbury on April 19, 1947. A member of First Baptist after accepting Christ as Savior at age 14, she sang in the choir and played piano for Youth Group preceding 60 years as the Church organist. A member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship, she also was a VBS helper for many years. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 in First Baptist Church, Kingsbury, followed by service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Tim Williams officiating. Burial will be in Kingsbury Cemetery. Haverstock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Kingsbury, P.O. 47, Kingsbury, IN 46345.
