Jean Albin

Mrs. Jean G. Albin, 59, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday February 2, 2010 at her home. She was born February 27, 1950 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Owen L. Travis and Phyllis Rose Travis. Jean was a graduate of Ivy Tech in 1970; she worked at Countryside Nursing Home, Walter's Hospital, and Fountainview Nursing Home and for Maxim Health Care Services. She had been a LPN nurse for the last forty years. She was a member of Merry Moderns of Purdue, D.A.R., Eastern Star and P.R.C.U. She moved to California in 1985 and moved back to LaPorte in the fall of 1999 with her family. She was known by many people as "Grandma Jean". On May 2, 1970, she married Joseph F. Albin who preceded her in death on May 4, 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Brian Cave of LaPorte, IN; three sons, Jason Laura Albin of Kingsbury, IN, Frank J. Lazaro of CA, Nicholas R. Lazaro of CA; five grandchildren, Kristin, Tyler, and Riley Cave of LaPorte, IN, Ireland and Vada Albin of Kingsbury, IN; significant other, Frank Lazaro for the last fifteen years; brother, Max Barbara Travis of Bull Shoals, AZ; sister, Kay David Snow of LaPorte, IN. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, Steven Albin. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, February 5, 2010 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Saturday, February 06, 2010 from 9:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday February 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
