Janet B. Schroeder- Hammons March 20, 1948-January 30, 2014 Janet B. Schroeder-Hammons, 65, of La Porte, Indiana, (formerly of Elkhart, Indiana) died Thursday January 30, 2014 at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN. She was born March 20, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph Schroeder and Phyllis (Stewart) Schroeder. Janet worked as a production worker for 10 years at American Home Foods. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed breeding sheltie dogs,and gardening. She taught Sunday School in Edenberg, Texas. She was a loyal friend to many people. She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Schroeder of Edenburg, TX.; 2 sisters - Sally Schroeder-Neary of Holland, OH, Peggy Schroeder-Ogle of Vevay, IN; brother - Mark Schroeder of Edenburg, TX; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her father, companion, McKinley Hammons, Sr., 2 nephews, Michael Reese, and Jimmy Deaton. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 3:00 pm, CDT until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday February 1, 2014 at 4:00 pm CDT with Dan Evans officiating. Cremation will take place with burial of ashes at a later date.
