Mr. James S. Woodard, 66, of 800 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, Indiana passed away Thursday August 19, 2004 at Countryside Place in LaPorte. Born January 5, 1938 in LaPorte to H. Arthur and Ruth Agnes Hunt Woodard. On September 26, 1964 in LaPorte, Indiana he married Carol VanderVliet, who survives. He worked foe American Home Foods as an operating technician for fifteen years retiring in 1979. Mr. Woodard was a devoted Salvation Army bell ringer and singer during Christmas, having served in LaPorte, Indiana, Ottumwa, Iowa, Indianapolis, Indiana, Evansville, Indiana for approximately forty years. He also was a scout master for Boys Scouts of America- Troop #83. He is survived by his wife Carol of LaPorte, two sons; Timothy Beth Woodard of Fremont, Iowa, John Faith Woodard of Battle Creek, Michigan, two daughters; Karlene Artemio Haro and Naomi Woodard both of LaPorte, Indiana. One sister, one brother and several nieces, nephews and nine grandchildren. Mr. Woodard is preceded by his parents and one brother. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday August 23, 2004 at Patton Cemetery with Rev. Daniel McDonald officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. before the service. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
