James L. Nichols April 30, 1943-May 19, 2017 Mr. James L. Nichols, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday May 19, 2017 at his home in La Porte, IN. He was born April 30, 1943 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of Garl Nichols and Lois (Benson) Nichols. James was employed at Teledyne Casting Service, LaPorte Foundry, and several years in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 - 1967 He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jackie Nichols of South Bend, IN; sister, Patricia (Nichols) Martin of La Porte, IN; brother, Roger (Marguetta) Nichols of Big Stone Gap, VA; sixteen nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roland, Leonard, William, Archie and Robert, three sisters, Rose, Elesie and Barbara. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. There will be no vistation or no services.
