Mr. James W. Murphy, 86, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Saturday May 15, 2010 at Brookside Hospice House in Palm Harbor, FL. He was born August 30, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward Murphy and Florence Touhy Murphy. James worked in accounting for Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church. James was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, classical music - especially Frank Sinatra. He loved spending time with his family and friends. On June 19, 1988, he married Teresa Barbarini, who survives. He is also survived by his three sons - James Murphy of VT, Tim Sam Murphy of VT, Mark Debbie Murphy of IL; two daughters - Maureen Marty O'Connell of IL, Sheila Mike Graber of Valparaiso, IN; one step-daughter - Brenda Jeff Crisp of IL; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Bill Murphy, two sisters, Mary Rose and JoAnn, step-daughter, Janice and step-son, James. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, May 21, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm & Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 9:00 am - 9:30 am. A Rosary Service will be conducted on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm. Services will be held at St. John Kanty Catholic Church., Saturday May 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. A committal service will be conducted by Father Joseph Hardy at the chapel in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Suncoast Hospice House Brookside 164 W. Lake Rd. Palm Harbor, Florida 34684.
