James Thomas Harris July 9, 1948-December 15, 2013 Mr. James Thomas Harris, 65, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Sunday December 15, 2013 at Hospice Franciscan Communities in Michigan City, IN. He was born July 9, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Ralph Harris and Edith (Reese) Harris. James worked as a acid etcher for thirty-five years at Howmet Corp., retiring in 2009. He was a Corporal of US Marines during Vietnam War. James was a former Kankakee Twp. Volunteer Fireman and member of the American Legion of New Carlisle. He enjoyed watching judge and cop shows. James enjoyed spending time with his family, three dogs, Gabby, Grace,and Lucy. On August 10, 1974, in LaPorte, IN, he married Lorea (Heise) Harris who survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters - Rebecca (Mark) Ryan of Hanna, IN, Ann (Ryan) Gorski of Tucson, AZ; son - Matthew Harris of Rolling Prairie, IN; 6 grandchildren - Nolan Ryan, Owen Ryan both of Hanna, IN, Samantha Gorski, Jenna Gorski, Brandon Gorski, Rozilynn Gorski all of Tucson, AZ; 2 brothers - Warren Harris, Michael Harris, and sister - Marguerite Schroeder all of Rolling Prairie, IN. James was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Shirley Harris, Patty Jensen, three brothers, Richard, Doug, and Wayne Harris. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 12:30 pm, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday December 19, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Debbie K. Beason officiating.
