James Eggleston Sr.

Mr. James L. Eggleston Sr., 82, of 12 W. Hupp Rd., LaPorte, IN., died Saturday March 5, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. LaPorte County time, at Miller?s Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN. He was born January 11, 1923, in Bristol, Indiana to Joseph and Dora Kerschner Eggleston, and has lived in the LaPorte area most of his life. Mr. Eggleston was a millwright for 30 years with the Budd Co. of Gary, IN. and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Steel Workers of Gary, In., Veteran of WW II, an Honorary Member of the New Carlisle American Legion, and he loved fishing and camping. On June 5, 1943, in LaPorte, IN. he married June Vermilyer who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Jeanne Eggleston of LaPorte, Constance Stanley Moore of Cuba, MO; 2 sons, David Cathy Eggleston of New Carlisle, IN., James Gisela Eggleston Jr. of Saugany Lake, IN.; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister Margaret Parker, of Elkhart, IN.; and 2 brothers, Eugene Peggy Eggleston of LaPorte, and Harold Norma Eggleston of Kalamazoo, MI. Preceded him in death were his parents and one sister Mildred Zellers. The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, with Rev. Susan Eggleston officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, Indiana.
