Jake Davis

Mr. Jake E. Davis, 55, of 1111 Jackson St., LaPorte, IN, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at the Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. He was born February 9, 1950 in Logan, W. Virginia, to Kirby and Margaret Gore Davis Sr., and has lived in the LaPorte area since 1972 coming from Kissimmee, FL. Mr. Davis was a security guard for the American Rubber Factory for the last sixteen years. On July 14, 1998, in Gatlinburg, TN, to Marsha Cunningham Strope who survives. Also surviving are one son, Jack Henry Strope of Rolling Prairie, IN.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Vicky Jo Harrison of Westville, IN., Mrs. Tammy Marie Douglas Bell of Chatsworth, IL, Sandra Earlene Davis of Chatsworth, IL; 2 brothers, Mr. Kirby Davis Jr. of Kissimmee, FL, Mr. Cecil Mary Jo Davis of Michigan City, IN; six sisters, Mrs. Ormae Jerry Lloyd of Stillwell, IN, Mrs. Lorene White of Logan, WV, Mrs. Peg Everette Curnette of Logan, WV, Mrs. Marge Rood of LaPorte, IN, Mrs. Estella William Desmond of LaPorte, IN, Mrs. Sue William Mullins of Logan WV; 5 grandchildren, Dakota Rae Strope, Caleb Joseph Strope, Mindy Sue Marcum, Ivanna Nicole Bell, and David Lee Bronson. His parents; 1 sister, Rosella Blankenship; and 1 brother, Mr. Charles Davis, precede him in death. The funeral will be Friday, April 1, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Richard Hoffman officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN.
