Irene Travis

Mrs. Irene A. Travis, age 92, of 3646 S. Wayne Dr., La Porte, Ind., died 12:45 PM Thursday, December 29, 2005, at her home in La Porte, Ind. She was born September 11, 1913 in LaPorte, Ind. to the late Albert Salzer and the late Lillian Wright Salzer. She has lived in the LaPorte area all of her life. Mrs. Travis was employed by Center Twp. Assessor's Office for 20 years and retired in 1968. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was also a Life Time Member of the VFW Post 1130 Aux. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. On March 23, 1929 in Plymouth, IN she married Francis Travis who preceded in death on February 8, 1990. She is survived by One Daughter, Mrs. Karol Richard Trim of La Porte, Ind.; Three grandchildren, Mrs. Andrea Nick Weach of Elkhart, Ind., Mr. Joshua Trim of LaPorte, Ind., Amanda Bryan Roach of Knox, Ind.; and Six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and Two Brothers, Albert Salzer and Harry Salzer. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 1, 2006 and 10:00 AM Monday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Monday, January 2, 2006, Rev. Richard N. Henry, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in La Porte, Ind.
