Mrs. Irene K. Blankschein, 87, of 1900 Andrew Ave. LaPorte, Indiana died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 2:10 PM at Fountainview Terrace, LaPorte, Indiana. She was born February 4, 1918 in LaPorte, Indiana, to Cedric and Madge Hockney Kemp, who has proceeded. Also preceded in death are two sisters, Mrs. Elva Bye, and Mrs. Fern Porter. Mrs. Blankschein was a life-long residence of the LaPorte area. On November 12, 1938, in LaPorte, Indiana, she was married to Charles Blankschein, who proceeded, July 13, 1995. Mrs. Blankschein was a Homemaker, also Daughter of Founder of C.E. Kemp Co; Co-owner/ partner of C.E. Kemps Co. Known now as Kemp?s Office City. A 1936 graduate of LaPorte High School. Mrs. Blankschein was a member of the Faith Baptist, life member of the LaPorte Hospital Aux. and several terms on Board of Directors and was a volunteer. Member of Holy Family and Pine Lake Hospital Aux; before they united. Life member of senior activity center, past president and honorary member of Elisabeth Miriam Clyburn Chapter of Questers, past president of both Tri-Kappa and Tri-Kappa Associates of which, she still was a member. She was a former member and officer for the community cancer association. She was both a Girl Scout and Red Cross volunteer for several years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Julie Tom Hilbish of LaPorte, IN, Mrs. Susan Dan Wineholt of LaPorte, IN, five grandchildren, Jennifer and Katie Hilbish, Matt and Becky Sanderson, Luke Melissa Sanderson, and a great-grandchild, Zachary. The Funeral will be a Private Family Graveside Service at Pine Lake Cemetery on Saturday, April 16, 2005, with Rev Victor M. Frohne officiating.
