Howard Dysard

Howard Allen Dysard, 91, of La Porte, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. He was born October 19, 1919 in Hecla, South Dakota, the son of Walter John Dysard and Esther Marie (Dadlow) Dysard. Howard worked in the experimental dept. for forty-three years at Allis-Chalmers, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Door Village United Methodist Church, Kingsbury Masonic Lodge # 222, Pinola Grange, and Union Mills Lion's Club. He was an originator of the Scipio Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. Howard enjoyed working on model steam engines, woodworking and making intarsia, refurbishing antique automobiles; he had built a couple cars from ground up. He enjoyed listening to western stories. Howard loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On February 24, 1940, in LaPorte, he married Mary "May Beth" (Bartmess) Dysard who preceded in death May 21, 2009. He is survived by his daughter - Marilyn (Lloyd) Vance of Sebring, FL; son - John (Celeste) Dysard of Jupiter, FL; seven grandchildren; five great- grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and son Thomas. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, June 3, 2011 from 9:00 am, until time of services. A Masonic Lodge service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Billy Nickrand officiating. Interment will follow at the Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
