Hobert Lee West April 1, 1925-August 10, 2013 Mr. Hobert Lee West, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday August 10, 2013, in a car accident. He was born April 1, 1925 in Coalfield, Tennessee, the son of Jim West and Altie (Carter) West. Hobert had worked for LaPorte Foundry. He was a president of International Moulders and Allied Unions Local #82. Hobert enjoyed yard work, gardening, singing karaoke and especially loved spending time with his family. On July 21, 1997, in LaPorte, IN, he married Leota ( Rowe) West who preceded him in death on August 10, 2013. On May 17, 1965 in LaPorte, Indiana he married Mary Grace (Farlow) West, who preceded him in death on March 21, 1989. He is survived by his 2 sons - Bart (Mary) West of FL, Joseph (Deborah) West of Rolling Prairie, IN; 2 daughters - Norah West of AR, Sue (Jim) McKinney of La Porte, IN; 10 step children; 11 grandchildren - April West, Jennifer West, Julie West, Josh West, Jeff West, Jared West, James McKinney, Bret McKinney, Katie McKinney, Brandon West, Brittani West; several great and step- grandchildren; 2 brothers - Martin (Emma) West of La Porte, IN, S.A. (Betty) West of OH; 1 step-brother - Harvey West of TN; 2 sisters - Jeanette Cross of La Porte, IN, Flora Kaler of Hamlet, IN; 1 sister-in-law - Lucy West of La Porte, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Hobert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leota West and first wife, Mary West, sons, Bret and Joe M. West, 5 brothers, Arthur, William, Jessie, James, Ray West, and twin brothers, Hubert and Herbert; 2 sisters, Maxine, and Fannie Maire. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday, August 16, 2013 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday August 16, 2013 at 10:00 am with Rev. Royce Ford, officiating.
