Herbert Ludwig

Mr. Herbert J. Ludwig, 93, of 330 Planett St., LaPorte, IN, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at 6:55 p.m., at the LaPorte Hospital. He was born March 5, 1912 in LaPorte, Indiana, to Fred R. and Louise Block Ludwig, and has lived in the LaPorte area all of his life. Mr. Ludwig retired in 1977 from Berkel Corp. after 30 years as service. During W.W.II he worked at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant. He was a member of the LaPorte Missionary Church and was a former Deacon and Usher of the Church. On June 22, 1985 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Helen L. Dobbs, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Arnold Shirley Ludwig of Naples, Florida; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Donna Donald Dugan of Palestine, IL, Mrs. Jayne Ross Reddington of Oklahoma City, OK; one step-son, Mr. Thomas Shelley Dobbs of South Bend, IN.; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and nine great great step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two stepsons, Dudley and Harley Davis; and five brothers, George, Charles, Clarence, Erwin and Elmer Ludwig. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
