Henry Koes

Mr. Henry W. Koes, 97, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday May 5, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, IN. He was born May 25, 1911 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Ernest Koes and Amelia Diptke Koes. Henry worked as a assembler for Allis-Chalmers for thirty-two years, retiring in 1968. He was a Veteran of the US Army during WW II. Henry was a life-member of the V.F.W. of Michigan City, IN, American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte and a life member of the Fish Lake Conservation Club. On August 18, 1942, in Michigan City, IN., he married Helen Crum, who preceded him in death on March 6, 1973. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Emery Gasaway of La Porte, IN; grandchild, Todd Melissa Gasaway of TN; Six Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Gloff, Dorothy Koes, brothers, Ed, Charles and Ralph Koes. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, May 8, 2009 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and 9:30 am Saturday, May 9, 2009, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday May 9, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Rev.Joseph Angotti officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
