Henry Kaber

Henry William Kaber October 28, 1937-July 13, 2013 Mr. Henry William Kaber, 75, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday July 13, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born October 28, 1937 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Edward Kaber and Rose Mary (Peterson) Kaber. Henry worked for Maple City Square Apartments and American Home Foods for 17 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was in the National Guard for 6 years. Member of the Whirling Promenaders Square Dance Club in LaPorte, Star 8's Square Dance Club in Mishawaka, IN., and the Duneland Woodcarvers in Portage, IN. He enjoyed tinkering and mechanical things. On October 7, 1961, in LaPorte, IN, he married Margaret (Hoffman) Kaber who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Cheryl (Carl) Johnson of La Porte, IN; 4 Grandchildren - Kyle Johnson of La Porte, IN, Samantha (JR) Carmickle of Paoli, IN, Cynthia Johnson of Argos, IN, Mark Johnson of Rochester, IN; 7 great-grandchildren; Austin, Brady, Jonathan, Lucas, Taylor, Alexus and Josie. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Leroy. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 12:30 pm, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Roger Ash officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit.
