Mrs. Henrietta LeeMartinSmith, age 69, of La Porte, Ind., died Friday, November 14, 2008, at her residence in La Porte, Ind. She was born July 5, 1939 in Hutsonville, Ill. to the late Henry James Martin Sr. and the late Mona Lee Grubb Martin. She has lived most of her life in the LaPorte Area. Mrs. Smith was employed by LaPorte K-Mart and retired in 1995. She attended Rolling Prairie Schools, and spent 21 years as a military wife. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legions Post #83 of LaPorte and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9423 of Rolling Prairie, IN. She was co-founder of "MOMS" Mothers of Military Soldiers and "OCP"- Operation Care Packs. On November 18, 1956 in Oblong, Ill she married Thomas Lee Smith Sr. who survives. She is also survived by her One Daughter, Mona Butch Smith Pratt of La Porte, Ind.; Two Sons, Thomas L. Jackie Smith, Jr. of La Porte, Ind., Raymond E. Karen Smith of Mishawaka, Ind.; Eight grandchildren; Eleven great-grandchildren, One Sisters, Linda L. Martin of La Porte, Ind.; One Brother, Clark Marie Martin of Robinson, Ill.; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law, Sue Steve Smith Gardner of Washington, Ind., Patricia Martin Lindsley of La Porte, Ind.; James W. Mikie Smith, Larry E. Mary Smith, Clarence R. Jenny Smith all of Oblong, Ill., Wade Hardleroad of Terre Haute, Ind., She is preceded in death by her Parents; Two Sisters, Helen Martin, MaryAnn Martin; One Brother, Henry J. Martin Jr.; Father and Mother-in-law, Zay and Velma Smith; One Brother-in-law, Michael L. Smith and Two Sisters-in-law, JoAnn Smith Hardleford and Effie M. Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2008 and Wednesday from noon until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2008, Rev. Richard Henry officiating. Interment will be at Lambs Chapel Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind. The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #83 will conduct a service 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
