Helen Blad

Mrs. Helen B. Blad, 91, of 31869 Chicago Trail, New Carlisle, died July 4, 2004, at 4:40 a.m. at the LaPorte Hospital. She was born February 11, 1913, in Starke Co., to Eli and Iva Emigh Gray, and has live in the LaPorte area for eight years coming from Leesburg, Indiana. Mrs. Blad was a homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and had volunteered many hours at the Leesburg Memorial Hospital. On April 4, 1932 in Valparaiso, IN. she married Leonard R. Blad, who preceded her in death on October 13, 1971. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Donald Blad; three sisters and eight brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Ruby Harold Olson of Rolling Prairie, IN., Doris Bill Ross of Chesterton, IN.; two sons, Russell Carolyn Blad of Bremen, IN., Kenneth Jean Blad of LaPorte, IN.; one daughter-in-law, Marian Blad of South Bend, IN.; Twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. A memorial service will be Thursday, July 8, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Noel C. Olse officiating. Friends may call at the church from noon until time of the service. Burial of ashes will be in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
