Hazel L. Graves, 72, of 1407 Spruce St., LaPorte, IN., died Thursday March 25, 2004, at 8:30 a.m. at the LaPorte Hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Hanna, IN. to Fred L. & Laura M. Smith Ames, and has lived in the LaPorte area for the last eleven years. Mrs. Graves was a secretary for Vectren formerly Indiana Gas Co. for seventeen years, and retired in 1982. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. On June 9, 1951, in Union Mills, she married Charles Graves, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Melinda Delamater of LaPorte; three sons, Charles L. Graves of Daytona Beach, Fl, James Taffy Graves of LaPorte, and Claude Catherine Graves of West Lafayette, IN.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Angeline Mrozinski of LaPorte; and two brothers, Fred Carol Ames and Claude Sandra Ames both of Union Mills, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Bishop Dwight Ames officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 208 S.
