Harold Gerrich

Mr. Harold M. Gerrich, 91, of 5240 Lockerbie Ct., Columbus, IN, died Thursday May 27, 2004, at 4:00 a.m. at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born March 5, 1913 in Brook, IN., to William and Miane Miller Gerrich, and has lived in Columbus since 1992 moving there from LaPorte where he lived for 25 years. Mr. Gerrich was a food inspector for Bonnie Baking; he retired in 1981 after 15 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Michigan City Moose Lodge, LaPorte Odd Fellows Lodge, and a graduate of Giliad High School in Rochester, IN. in 1931. On March 24, 1969 in St. Joseph Michigan he married Patricia M. Justice, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Merril Lee Gerrich of Rochester, IN., Oscar Shirley Gerrich of Gilbert, AZ; three step-sons, Harold Cindy Bass of LaPorte, IN., Darold Rita Bass of Columbus, IN., Gary Bass of Columbus, IN.; eleven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Preceded him in death are his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. The funeral will be Saturday May 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 pm and Saturday 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, IN.
