Grace Hogge

Mrs. Grace H. Hogge, 94, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday February 17, 2010 at Golden Living Center Fountainview. She was born August 5, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Sydney A. Durling and Ada Reed Durling. She has lived in the LaPorte area for thirty-five years, coming from Chicago, Illinois. Grace was owner of the Durling's Food Store for ten years. She was a member of American Legion Post #400 Auxilliary. Grace enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She loved animals and her grandchildren. On January 19, 1932, in Valparaiso, IN, she married Hugh T. Hogge who preceded her in death July 6, 1996. She is survived by her three grandchildren Grace L. Seibert, Gayle T. Smith, Samantha Postelman; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle Workman, Thomas Summerfield, Andrew Smith, Sydney Smith, Riley Postelman, Gage Smith, Page Smith; three great-great grandchildren, Jorden Workman, Hailee Workman, Mason Workman; son-in-law, Gayle W. Smith; special friend, Melissa Brownlee. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Donna M. Smith, grandchild, Thomas S. Doucet, one sister, Elizabeth H. Garnett, and one brother, Albert S. Durling, Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 9:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday February 20, 2010 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
