Mr. Glenn J. Thompson, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday May 7, 2010 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. He was born August 21, 1926 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Henry H. Thompson and Gertrude Klassen Thompson. Glenn was a farmer and former owner of Thompson Grain in South Wanatah; he also worked as a carpenter for Bud Anderson Construction. Glenn spent fifteen years in Brandenton, Florida, until returning to La Porte in the summer of 2003. On July 31, 1948, in LaPorte, IN, he married Myrtle Trim Thompson who preceded him in death March 12, 1994. He is survived by his three daughters - Lynda Jack Don Kleine of La Porte, IN, Joyce Steve Gourley of Cicero, IN, Karen Thomas Matuszak of Philo, IL; son - Kenneth Louise Thompson of Kouts, IN; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and one sister - Alice Mitchell of Ottawa, Canada. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Mary Jane Pierce, two brothers, Frank Thompson, and Robert Thompson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A private family graveside service will be held at Pinhook Cemetery.
