Mr. Glen Edward Peting, age 88, of Winston Salem, N.C., died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Wake Forest Univ. Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C. He was born May 18, 1920 in Cook Co., Ill. to the late Arthur Peting and the late Lesta Mills Peting. Mr. Peting served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1945 he moved to Indiana where he obtained a Doctorate of Jurist Prudence from Valparaiso University, He worked as Director of Operations at Conrad Hilton Hotel from 1953 until 1960. He moved to Raleigh NC where he was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he worked for Lowes in Raleigh, NC and Kernsville, NC. While in Raleigh he was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and when he moved to Winston-Salem he was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. On April 7, 1945 in Greensboro, NC he married Marshal Arleen Whitener who preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1982. He is survived by his Son, Mr. Glen Edward Cheryl Ann Peting, II of Winston Salem, N.C.; Six Grandchildren, Amandah Arleen Peting of Lompoc, CA, Glen Edward Peting III of Newark, OH, Natasha Elaine Peting, Sean Raymond Peting Evan Michael Peting and Brienna Marie Peting all of Winston-Salem, NC; Four Sisters, Mrs. Shirley Baker of Las Vegas, NV, Mrs. Lorraine Keehn and, Mrs. Phyllis Lynch both of La Porte, Ind., Mrs. Barbara J. Nelson of Griffith, Ind.; Two Brothers, Mr. Earl W. Peting of Elwood, Ind., and Mr. Clifford W. Peting of La Porte, Ind. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and 1 Sister, Wanda H. Peting. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2008 and from the Trinity Litheran Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday June 12, 2008. Funeral service will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2008, Rev. Joseph Loftis officiating. Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, 2415 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 2703.
