Gladys Mccleland

Mrs. Gladys E. McCleland, age 91, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Ind. She was born March 16, 1917 in South Bend, Ind. to the late Christopher Troeger and the late Emma Hedman Troeger. She has lived in the Rolling Prairie area since 1944 coming from South Bend, Ind. Mrs. McCleland was employed by Wilson Brother in South Bend, The Rolling Prairie Library, Whirlpool, and then retired from New Prairie School Corp. and was a member of Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and Best Years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. On November 15, 1941 in South Bend, Ind. she married Farrell Nile McCleland who preceded in death March 7, 1969. She is survived by her; One Daughter, Karen Ben Rison of La Porte, Ind Three Sons, Robert Connie McCleland of Lynnville, Ind.; Michael Paula McCleland of La Porte, Ind., , Gary Pat McCleland of Niles, Mich.; Nineteen grandchildren; Twenty One great-grandchildren; Three great-great grandchildren; and One Sister, Carmen Mitchell of South Bend, Ind. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James McCleland; granddaughter, Rayna Rison; one sister and two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2008 and at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church from noon Thursday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008, Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Interment will be at Rolling Prairie Cemetery in Rolling Prairie, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church or the Rayna Rison Scholarship fund.
