Geraldine Young

Mrs. Geraldine Young, 59, of Union Mills, Indiana, passed away, Sunday June 13, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. She was born April 13, 1951 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of LaDonna Dietrich VanDusen. Geraldine was a homemaker. She was a nature loving woman, especially enjoying fishing, cookouts, gardening, and canning. Geraldine loved being with her family and grandchildren. On August 26, 1967, at the First Baptist Church in Union Mills, IN, she married Jack Young who survives; they were married for forty-two years. She is also survived by her two sons - Christopher Allen Tammy Young of Union Mills, IN, Brian Keith Young of Union Mills, IN; one daughter - Dawn Marie Scott Compton of La Porte, IN; four grandchildren, Makenzi Young of Union Mills, IN, Brandin Young of Union Mills, IN, Whitney Compton of La Porte, IN, Colin Compton of La Porte, IN; three sisters - Marge Arnett of Kingsford Heights, IN, LaDonna Perry of Union Mills, IN, Delores Stout of Union Mills, IN; three brothers - Bill Dietrich of La Porte, IN, Floyd VanDusen of Rolling Prairie, IN, Terry VanDusen of La Porte, IN. Geraldine was preceded in death by her mother. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday June 17, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, Indiana.
