Gerald 'Jerry' Ray Piotrowicz

Gerald ‘Jerry’ Ray Piotrowicz, 81, of La Porte, Indiana passed away on February 17th at home, surrounded by his wife, Barbara, and his son, Brian.
Jerry was born on November 15th, 1943, in La Porte, Indiana to Esther Peterson and William Puckett. He was later adopted by Stan Piotrowicz.
He graduated President of his class from Mill Creek High School in 1962.
On November 15th, 1969, he married Barbara Condon in La Porte, Indiana. They were married for 55 years and had one son, Brian.
Most people knew Jerry as a life-long entrepreneur and adventurist. He started many successful businesses and was a private pilot, a scuba diver, snowmobiler, skier, horseback rider, motorcyclist and avid tennis player. Jerry was also a dedicated Euchre player. He had a deep love for the arts including music, movies and theater.
Jerry and Barbara raised their son Brian in Indiana and Michigan, providing him with many opportunities. Jerry and Barbara also lived in Florida for nearly two decades – returning ‘home’ to La Porte, Indiana in 2011.
Jerry and his wife Barbara were extremely close and enjoyed traveling together. They owned an RV for several years, driving it to California and back multiple times. They spent time in Belize, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Austria and Palm Springs among others.
Jerry is survived by his wife, his son and son-in-law, Matthew, three brothers and six sisters.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Details to come.
