Gerald Phelps, Sr.

Mr. Gerald L. Phelps, Sr., age 80, of La Porte, Ind., died Monday, April 23, 2007, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. He was born October 9, 1926 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Gerald Phelps and the late Cecil Zeeryp Phelps. He has lived in the LaPorte area for 8 years coming from Greenville, North Carolina. Mr. Phelps was an independent trucker. He was a member of LaPorte Moose Lodge, life-time member of American Legion Post #83. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid wood worker. He Served in the Merchant Marine during WW II. On March 10, 1947 in Meadville, Pennsylvania he married Shirley I. Cochran, who survives. He is also survived by his Six Daughters, Carin A. Kramer of Annapolis, Md., Sandra L. Phelps of Erie, Pa., Joyce E. Phelps of La Porte, Ind., Marilyn D. Dennis Breckley of Newport News, Va., Betty J. Phelps of Erie, Pa., Robin D. Lulofs of La Porte, Ind.; Seven Sons, Gerald L. Phelps, Jr. of Erie, Pa., Ronald L. Phelps of Erie, Pa., John R. Eileen Phelps of Fairview, Pa., David A. Phelps of Greenville, N.C., Kevin K. Phelps of Greenville, N.C., Jeffrey P. Laong Phelps of Greenville, N.C., Robert D. Phelps of Erie, Pa.; Two Sisters, Ethlyn Wolfe of Erie, Pa., Ethelyn Wolfe of Erie, Pa.; Thirty Two grandchildren and Eighteen great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A memorial service and burial of ashes in Erie, Pennsylvania will be held at a later date.
