Gerald M. Lawson November 8, 1937-November 5, 2017 Mr.Gerald M. Lawson, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday November 5, 2017 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born November 8, 1937 in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of Otto M. Lawson and Jean (Green) Lawson. Gerald was an iron worker, one of his proudest moments was being able to work on the John Hancock building. He retired from Howmet Corporation after over 20 years of service. He enjoyed his farm animals and working on cars. He loved spending time with family and friends. On May 11, 1957, in Valparaiso, IN, he married Ruth E.Smith Lawson who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Kim L. Rose of La Porte, IN; two sons, Kirt M. (Teresa) Lawson of La Porte, IN, Mark A. (Jody) Lawson of Hamlet, IN; six Grandchildren, Danielle Frederickson, Brandon Rose, Katie Mrozinski, Karlee Dodson, Todd Bates, Nikki Bates; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Leroy Lawson of Ok; and his aunt, Sylvia Orszulak. Gerald was preceded in death by his son, Michael A. Lawson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Private family services will be held at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the La Porte Small Animal Shelter..
