Emeritus Pastor George H. Sharp Sr. of 127 W. McClung Rd. LaPorte, IN. Sunrise- November 28th, 1918 Sunset - September 10th 2005 at 9:00 p.m. CST Emeritus Pastor George H. Sharp Sr. of Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ was called home to be with the Lord on September 10th, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. at the age of 86. He died at LaPorte Hospital. An anointed man of God, his life was full of love and compassion for his family, friends, and church community. Full of humor and passion he walked for the service of the Lord. He inspired and influenced the lives of many people. He was born in Starkville, MS. After graduating High School Pastor Sharp entered the U.S. Army where he served during World War Two and was honorably discharged. Pastor Sharp later wed Ruby Campbell. They moved from Starkville to Alton, IL and from Alton to LaPorte, IN. Pastor Sharp was employed at Howmet Austenal before retiring after nineteen years. Pastor Sharp was preceded in death by Ruby Sharp, his wife of 52 years, his parents John Sharp / Mary Jane Sharp, three sisters and eight brothers. Pastor Sharp is survived by six daughters Bryn Tiedge of South Bend, IN., Annette Don Evans of Tacoma, WA. Patricia Harold Wells of Huntsville, AL., Rosie Marie Greg Wadley of Laporte, IN., Ruby Denise Clayton Allen of Lafayette, IN., and Judy Mike Williams off Michigan City, IN. Four sons George Sharp Jr. of Marietta, GA., Jerome Sharp of Lafayette, IN., Larry D. Sharp of Atlanta, GA., and Kenneth Sharp of LaPorte, IN. nineteen grandchildren, and three great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a true companion and dear friend Deacon Joseph Sellers of Michigan City. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 16th, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST. At Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ, 141 Oakbluff Ave. Laporte, IN. 46350 Funeral services will be Saturday September 17th 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. for viewing and 11:00 to 2:00 p.m CST for actual service. The service will be held at Greater Power House Church of God in Christ 428 North Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN. 46360.
