George Schrier

George A. Schrier, 80, of La Porte, IN, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. He was born March 13, 1931 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of Henry Schrier and Melvina (Rice) Schrier. George had worked for Jefferson Smuffett. He enjoyed watching basketball, doing yard work and especially enjoyed being with his family. On March 9, 1952, in LaPorte, IN., he married Patsy (Oattes) Schrier who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Terri Warren of La Porte, IN; one grandson - Aaron (Melinda) Stacy of La Porte, IN; 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Ty Stacy of La Porte, IN. George was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Henry, & John Schrier, four sisters, Hildreth, Ruth, Helen & Eleanor, and one son-in-law, Roy Warren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
