George La Mar Humphrey July 24, 1945 - December 9, 2015 George La Mar Humphrey age 70, passed away peacefully after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. La Mar is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Arnholz) Humphrey; children, Dawn (Lloyd) Forney, George L. 'Sonny' (Amanda) Humphrey Jr., and Deidre Dillard; grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon and Audrey Forney, Jacob G. (Hannah) Humphrey, Caleb M. Humphrey, Ruth A. Humphrey,and Blake Dillard; great grandson, Jacob G. Humphrey II; brother, Frank (Sharon) Humphrey; several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Betty Mae (nee Harris) Humphrey; daughter, Laura Humphrey; sister, Betty Ann Watson and brother, Robert Humphrey. La Mar was born on July 24, 1945 in Chattanooga, TN and he proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. La Mar was an over the road truck driver for 48 years and retired from Nationwide Midwest in Michigan City, Indiana. On June 10, 1967 he married the love of his life, Diane Arnholz and together, they raised their family in LaPorte. La Mar was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched. La Mar took great pride in showing his grandchildren what being a grandfather truly means. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Deacon Robert Bucheit officiating. Interment to follow at Patton Cemetery LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 PM and on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
