George Robert Cummings December 21, 1926-July 29, 2016 Mr. George Robert Cummings, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday July 29, 2016 at his home. He was born December 21, 1926 in Kingsbury, Indiana, the son of George C. and Mary W. (Carson) Cummings. Bob was a farmer and worked at Austenal/Howmet. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Austenal/Howmet Quarter Century Club and the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows. On May 18, 1947 in Knox, Indiana he married Gwendolyn Elsie Hanna Cummings who preceded him in death July 30, 2009. He is survived by his five daughters: Gwen (Stephen) Wurster, Judy (Ken) Buss, Laura (Jerry) Thomas, Gail (Rich) Borror and Mary K. (Chris) Countryman; three sons: Robert (Bonnie) Cummings, Jr. Thomas E. (Carol) Cummings, II and James Cummings; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and Alvina Korner a special friend. George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elsie, brother Thomas Cummings, sister Mary Alice Gehrke and grandchild Christopher Cummings. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana where the family will receive friends Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday, August 5, 2016, from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kevin Patterson officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
