Gene Church

Gene Church October 25, 1957-March 17, 2018 Mr.Gene Church, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Saturday March 17, 2018 at his home in La Porte. He was born October 25, 1957 in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Tilford Church and Norma (McKnight) Plumley. Gene was a truck driver for Alpha Bakery. He was a past member of the P.N.A. He was an avid Cubs fan and he loved golfing, camping, fishing, and going to concerts with his wife. On July 28, 1976, in London, KY, he married Vicki (Wisler) Church who survives. He is also survived by his son, RueAllen (Valerie) Church of North Liberty, IN; daughter, April Church of La Porte, IN; four Grandchildren, Emma Church, Lilly Borders, Caden Church, Rylie Borders; his mother Norma Plumley; brother, James Church of Cincinnati, OH; 1 Step-brother; and 2 step sisters. Gene was preceded in death by his father Tilford Church; sister, Caroline Carey; step-father, John Plumley, grandmother, Rhetta McKnight. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, March 22, 2018, 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday March 22, 2018 at 5:30 pm with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating.
