Gary Lee Garcia Jr, 38, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday October 16, 2024 at Northwest Health-La Porte, IN.
He was born June 17, 1986 in Lubbock, Texas, the son of Gary Lee Garcia Sr.and Rosaelia (Lopez) Garcia.
Living most of his life in the La Porte area, Gary graduated from La Porte high school in 2004. After high school, Gary pursued a career in welding, which he enjoyed. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte and devoted to his faith. Gary was an avid outdoors guy, and especially enjoyed golfing, fishing and kayaking. A sports fan, he loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Cubs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. At night, he would often look up at the moon in amazement and say "there she is", dreaming of going there one day. Gary cared deeply about his family, especially his nieces and nephews, who he played ball with on weekends. And he adored his cats, Peaches and Dax. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who got the chance to know him.
Gary is survived by his loving mother, Rosaelia Garcia of LaPorte; grandmother, Victoria Garcia of Lubbock, TX; brother, Orlando Martinez of La Porte, IN; two sisters, Ashley (Eric Herrera) Garcia of Chesterton, IN, Amanda (Joseph) Lubbock,TX; Godparents, Cheryl and Tony Lara; nieces and nephews, Aqua Kopf, Joey Kopf, Angelo Kopf, Jaelyn Kopf, Hendrex Herrera, Kree Herrera, Oaklynn Martinez, and great nieces and nephews, Esaias Ramirez, Ariella Ramirez, and Layla Kopf.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary, Sr; grandfather, Eloy Garcia, and grandmother, Guadalupe Alvarado Lopez
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation, Monday, October 21, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m.. A mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Cremation will take place, with burial at a later date at Pine Lake Cemetery.
