Garnett Kelley

Mrs. Garnett J. Kelley, 89, of Mill Creek, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Ashland, Ky. to John and Betty E. Maynard Hughes. Mrs. Kelley was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, Lincoln Township Home Economic Club for 50 years, Lincoln Township. Farm Bureau, You Name It Bunco Club, Lady Missionary of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed music. On April 25, 1937, in Mill Creek, she married George L. Kelley, who died Dec. 11, 1989. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Yvonne Ernie Tompkins of Mill Creek; one grandchild, Cindy Bair, two great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Delores Zerby of Pueblo, Colo. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte, with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 8762 E. 200 S., Mill Creek, IN 46365.
