Frederick E. Sachtleben

Fred Sachtleben, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday September 14, 2021 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City, IN.

He was born January 6, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Walter L. Sachtleben and Eunice (Dean) Sachtleben.

On August 29, 1959, in Chicago, IL, he married Patricia A. (Felthouse) Sachtleben, who survives.

He is also survived by his three daughters, Donna Osier of Orland Park, IL, Claudia (Doug) Winter of La Porte, IN, Elaine (Allen) Furth of Annapolis, MD; son, Fritz (Sharon) Sachtleben of Tinley Park, IL; brother, Richard (Marcille) Sachtleben of CA; sister-in-law, Judy Sachtleben of Harbert, MI; sister, Doris (Gene) Kwazaborski of Burbank, IL; six grandchildren, Fritz (Molly), Chris (Sandra), Elyse (Josh), Roger (Michelle), Eric (Shannon), Elaine (Ruben); and 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frederick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother who was his identical twin, Robert Sachtleben; sisters, June Kondrath, and, Ruth Rickard.

Fred retired from Ford Motor Company as a process engineer, all the while building a life with God and a family he adored.  He was a member of Liberty Bible Church, Chesterton and had a strong connection to his church family.  Fred loved cars and was a member of the Michiana Antique Car club. He was strictly a "yes or no" man and generous to a fault.  His ultimate joy lay in his love of God and his love for his wife and family.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 20 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the Liberty Bible Church 824 N. Calumet Ave. Chesterton, IN 46304.  A life celebration will be held at the church at 2 PM, with Pastor Mike Akert officiating. Interment will follow at the Angel Crest Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
