Frederick Hickman

Mr. Frederick M. Hickman, 96, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday March 9, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN. He was born May 7, 1912 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of Edward Hickman and Minnie Fink Hickman, living in LaPorte Co. all of his life. Frederick worked as a supervisor for General Telephone Co. retiring in 1967, after thirty plus years of service. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose. Frederick enjoyed fishing, sports, Nascar, baseball especially the Cubs. He loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren very much. In 1935 in LaPorte, IN., he married Freida M. Phloen and then on July 29, 1969, in LaPorte, IN, he married Betty Marvel, who preceded him in death on January 28, 1997. He is survived by his three sons, James Susan Hickman of LaPorte, IN, Robert Hickman of Kingsbury, IN, Ronald Doris Hickman of Bridgeman, MI.; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Frederick was preceded in death by his mother, father; first wife, Freida M. Phloen; second wife, Betty Hickman; two brothers and six sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. A graveside service will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN. with Rev. Evan Lash, officiating.
