Forrest Zimmerman

Forrest C. Zimmerman December 21, 1927-January 10, 2017 Mr. Forrest C. Zimmerman, 89, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday January 10, 2017 at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, IN. He was born December 21, 1927 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Carl Zimmerman and Helen (Lotter) Zimmerman. He retired from Allied Signal in 1990 after 37 years of service. Forrest was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of LaPorte. He was a Veteran of US Navy during WW II., a past member of the Lions Club of Fish Lake. He was an avid gardener and golfer, who enjoyed traveling and shared the love of his favorite camping spot with family and friends in Ludington, MI. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On February 9, 1951, in LaPorte, IN, he married Mildred (Fossow) Zimmerman who preceded him in death May 28, 2008. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen (Lou) Biernacki, Sharon (Mark) Nowatzke; son, Michael (Karen) Zimmerman; eight grandchildren, Jacob Biernacki, Jessica (Jonathan) Jensen, Rebecca Biernacki, MacKenzie (Craig) Hammonds, Alexandra Bachert Scott Bradford, Brandon Zimmerman, Cheyenne Zimmerman; five great- grandchildren Alivia, Nora, Grace, Timothy Hammonds, Aria Gehrman; sister, Jeannine Martin; two brothers, Roger Zimmerman, and Dale Zimmerman. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sons. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday January 24, 2017 at 5:00 pm with Rev. Ronald A. Brauer officiating. Interment at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
