Evelyn Shinn

Mrs. Evelyn I. Shinn, age 80, of 200 Sagamore Parkway, La Porte, Ind., died 2:04 AM Sunday, November 13, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind. She was born August 19, 1925 in Wanatah, IN to the late Harry Benkie and the late Tena Redman Benkie. She has lived in LaPorte since 1996 coming from Hanna, IN. Mrs. Shinn was employed by Dr. David D. Oak of Hanna, IN.; Post Office of Hanna, IN.; and First Merchants Bank of Michigan City, IN for sixteen years and retired in 1983. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Hanna. On May 10, 1952 at the Saint Johns Lutheran Church at Wanatah, IN. she married Melvin Shinn who survives. She is also survived by One Son, Mr. Barry Teri Shinn of La Porte, Ind.; One Granddaughter Miss Allison Chroback of La Porte, IN.; Three Step Grandchildren; and Seven Step Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and One Sister, Mrs. Ruth Rosenbaum who preceded in death in 2002. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2005, with Rev. James Beaversdorf and Pastor Merlin Bray officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Wanatah, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 S.
