Evelyn I. Lenick May 25, 1929 - September 7, 2016 Evelyn I. Lenick age 87, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She is survived by her daughters, Lori (Troy) Hutchinson of MI and Dorothy Didion of CA; grandchildren, Katee Crowder and Kyle Hutchinson; siblings, Lynn (Richard) Moe of CA, Joe (Arlene) Solmos of La Porte, IN and Mary (late John) Buzzell of CA; sisters in law, Phyllis Solmos of La Porte, IN, Marilyn Solmos of Indianapolis, IN and Jean (Tom) Larson of La Porte, IN; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irene Solmos; husband, Norman L. Lenick; brothers, Gene Solmos and Charles Solmos. Evelyn was born on May 25, 1929 in La Porte, IN and was a 1947 graduate of Kingsbury High School. On May 28, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in La Porte, IN, she married Norman L. Lenick who preceded her in death in 2009. She was a life member and past president of Sigma Phi Gamma International, past president of the Kingsbury Alumni, a Life National Council Flower Show Judge Emeritus, Charter member and past president of the Four Seasons Gardening Club, founder of the LaPorte Hospital Landscape Committee, Charter member of the Charm and Chatter Home Economics Club and she was the 1997 Honeywell Recipient for Horticulture for the State of Indiana. Evelyn and Norman owned and operated the Lenick's Dairy Inc. in La Porte and Michigan City, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue La Porte, IN with Rev. Ian J. Williams officiating. Interment to follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday morning from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
