Evelyn Marie Johnson November 11, 1916-June 10, 2013 Evelyn Marie (Smith) Johnson, age 96, passed away on June 10, 2013, at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers, MI. Evelyn was born on November 11, 1916 in Mill Creek, IN. A 1934 graduate of Mill Creek High School, she was the daughter of William Jay Smith and Mary Marie (Rensberger) Smith. On June 3, 1936, she and Floyd Arthur Johnson were married in Tracy, IN. A long-time resident of LaPorte County, she was a homemaker and co-owner of Johnson's Refrigeration in LaPorte. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, her parents, three brothers (Donald W., Claude D. and Roy V. Smith), and one daughter-in-law, Alice L. Johnson. Evelyn is survived by two sons, Floyd W. Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, and Ronald C. (Patricia) Johnson of Vicksburg, MI; 4 grandchildren, R. Andrew (Christine) Johnson, Jill C. (Tim) Eastman, Lynn A. (Jason) Wilson, Jay W. (Jasmine) Johnson; 6 great-grandchildren, Kathryn Johnson, Abigail Eastman, Kyle Johnson, Skyler Wilson, Mitchell Eastman, and Anya Johnson. One brother and his wife, Robert D. (Trudy) Smith, and a sister-in-law, Helen Smith, also survive along with several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank, 727 East 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A private family service will be held at a later date in Indiana.
