Evelyn  Jarrett, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Golden Living La Porte, IN.

She was born October 14, 1935 in Richmond, Kentucky, the daughter of Paul M. Lane Sr.and Mida (Shaw) Lane.

Evelyn was a member of Knox Nazarene Church where she enjoyed participating in children's church.  She worked in the Chaplain's Office at La Porte Hospital while volunteering often at the gift shop.  Evelyn would also work in the lunchroom at La Porte Schools, and enjoyed playing with the children at recess.

On May 4, 1978, in Kingsford Heights. IN, she married Charles Jarrett who preceded her in death on December 28, 2016.

She is survived by her son, David A. Martin of La Porte, IN; daughter, Carol F. (Tony) Lopez of Laporte, IN; three brothers, Paul M. Lane, Jr. of Richmond, KY, Donald L. Lane of Richmond, KY, Lewis Lane of Richmond, KY; sister, Willie May Hall of Lexington, KY; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 great-great, grandchildren

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Charles, son, Billy W. Martin, brothers, Harold, Marion, William, sisters, Barbara and Mary.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2022, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.  A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Tuesday December 27, 2022 at 12:00 am with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. Interment will follow at  Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
